Chariklo's Rings | BJC Top 15

The Centaur 10199 Chariklo is an asteroid the size of a big city, and it is the smallest known object to have belts/rings. The rings are a big mystery, for it is assumed that small objects like Chariklo would not be able to have a belt of its own, let alone two. HP Park explains the different steps he takes to find a possible solution to how the belts could have formed. Showing the different success and failures in his simulation study, HP elaborates the application of plain high school physics while explaining a possible solution to a mysterious phenomenon.
